What was your vision for Ballantyne Terraces?
At Rise Architecture, we design with purpose and passion. Our mission is to create architecture that inspires, elevates, and brings joy to all who experience it.
“With a limited collection of only seven homes, we had the opportunity to focus on the finer details of the human experience. The materiality was chosen for its sensory appeal—textures that age gracefully and forms that provide a sense of rhythm along the streetscape. It is a design that celebrates openness and modern living while maintaining an intimate, boutique scale that feels personal and enduring.”
How does the materiality of Ballantyne Terraces contribute to its design?
The soul of these residences lies in their tactile materiality. We have moved away from the clinical and towards the artisanal, selecting a palette that feels both grounded and sophisticated.
- Patterned Brickwork: The standout feature of the facade, our bespoke brickwork uses intricate patterning to create a rhythmic, textured surface. It’s a nod to the industrial heritage of Melbourne’s North, reimagined for a modern era.
- Soft, Muted Tones: We’ve curated a spectrum of warm greys, sandy beiges, and soft ochres. These tones are designed to catch the afternoon sun, casting a gentle glow that evolves with the seasons.
- Contemporary Contrast: While the brick provides the weight and history, refined metal accents and expansive glazing provide a crisp, clean contrast—ensuring each home feels light, airy, and unmistakably modern.
